Social action

ANGEL CAMACHO ALIMENTACION actively participates in several initiatives and institutions devoted to providing food to needy people and families. This work has taken on special importance since the advent of the economic crisis and the consequent fall in income of a considerable number of Spanish families who now depend, to a large extent, on the assistance of charities such as food banks and Cáritas or, at a local level, the “Hermanas de la Compañía de la Cruz” convent, which provides care for underprivileged children.

Fundación Banco de Alimentos de Sevilla (Seville Food Bank Foundation)

In gratitude for its collaboration, which began 18 years ago, ANGEL CAMACHO ALIMENTACION was honoured by the “Fundación Banco de Alimentos de Sevilla” (Seville Food Bank Foundation). Over the last two years alone, ANGEL CAMACHO has donated more than 200 tonnes of food.

Campaign to combat food waste

It is estimated that one third of food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted every year: more than 1.3 billion tonnes of food that does not reach the end consumer. In Spain, 2.9 million tonnes of food ends up in domestic waste annually. Aware of this problem, the Spanish Association of Manufacturers and Distributors (AECOC), of which ANGEL CAMACHO ALIMENTACION is a member, led a pioneering campaign in Europe to tackle food wastage. This is being implemented through a partnership agreement signed by around 100 businesses and associations involved in the food sector, which has the support of public authorities and the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL). The project has two fundamental aims achieved through best practices: to reduce waste throughout the whole food chain and to optimise the use of any surplus produced along the value chain.

"Andaluces compartiendo" (Andalusians Sharing)

This initiative promoted by the Cajasol Foundation and Landaluz  began in 2013 and involves 15 important Andalusian firms and brands, including FRAGATA and LA VIEJA FABRICA. Its aim is to provide staple foods for people in need. Distribution of the food is carried out in conjunction with various charitable organisations such as Cáritas, food banks and canteens, amongst others.
